Why I Started Publishing....
I started publishing because I wanted to help others share their stories. As a writer, I knew the challenges of getting a message into the world and realised I could offer a platform to support other creatives. Carmel Austin Publishing was born out of my desire to empower authors, especially those with unique voices and stories that needed to be heard.

The Difficulties I Encountered....
The journey into publishing wasn’t easy., learning the technical side, like book formatting, ISBNs, and print-ready files, was a steep learning curve. Navigating marketing and sales also presented many challenges—getting a book noticed in a crowded market felt like an uphill battle. But persistence and a willingness to learn helped me push through those tough moments.

The Many Tricks of the Trade I’ve Learned Along the Way....
One of the most valuable lessons I’ve learned is the importance of building an author platform early. Using social media, podcasts, and newsletters has been crucial for creating buzz before launching a book. I also realised how essential professional editing and design are to make a book stand out. And, perhaps the most important trick I’ve learned: keep moving forward, even when the path gets difficult, because the end result is always worth it.
